"I really like the fact that for a sassy first-person narrator of an urban
fantasy style romance, Charity Donovan is 42. After a divorce and a phase
of self-discovery, Charity is now ready to embrace life and live it to the
fullest with the cute guy who looks as if he's not a day over 30. The
thing is, Gavin Carpenter is actually immortal and has lived for... oh,
eons. That's a really long time, people. He's a Time Dancer. Does this
mean that they have all the time in the world for love or is time really
running out and they need to do something to save the world ASAP?
I don't really know how to describe Doing Time accurately here but I do
know that I love what I read here. This story is actually a very well done
self-discovery journey of Charity and if this story is a straightforward
chick-lit style story, it will work just as well. However, the paranormal
elements are pretty decent too, although there are some cheesy aspects
like the soulmate-is-necessary thing that make it hard for me to take the
whole paranormal concept seriously. Gavin is a very nice hero, and even
better, the author uses her paranormal premise to create some lovely
whimsical scenes here that really appeal to me.
I know, this review is pretty abstract and I'm doing a pretty poor job
describing the plot and all. But I feel that this is one of those stories
that a reader should best read for herself. It's different, it's hard to
pigeonhole into a category, and it is also very interesting and sometimes
very beautiful to read, strengths and flaws and all. I really like this
one."

"...I loved most of the story line in Doing Time but there is a huge twist
in the tale that takes the story where I wasn’t expecting it to go. I
didn’t like the twist! The characters of Gavin and Charity are fun,
independent, intelligent, strong willed, sarcastic, smart-mouthed, loyal,
and determined; what is not to love. The story line is unique and
creative. I really like the idea of the Time Dancers who can travel back
in time and fix rips and tears in the time stream to prevent problems with
time overlaps or ripples that might affect the world as we know it. Of
course, there are also demons that want the time stream to tear because
they thrive on chaos and this time Lucifer seems to be behind the massive
rip that could destroy the world.
Even though I didn’t like the unexpected twist in the story, I gave it the
full 5 hearts because it is still an excellent tale and a wonderful
beginning for a new series. I always appreciate an author finding a new
paranormal story idea and creating something very entertaining from that
idea. I can’t wait for the next book to see what Ms. McIntyre comes up
with next!"

"...I smiled throughout the story even during the parts where I cried. The
plot held my interest such that I couldn’t stop reading. The whole
storyline felt not only plausible but real too."
"...Best of all, Time Dancers is a series. There will be more
stories as great as this one."
